6 Questions to Ask When You Are Interviewing a Brokerage

Many aspiring realtors don’t understand how valuable they are to a brokerage when they are starting out and because of this don’t interview their brokerage. You hold a lot of power when you are choosing a brokerage to align yourself with and this article will help you leverage it.

For starters, you are bringing your network to their brokerage. You are also someone they can shape into a top realtor and you may stay with the brand for a large portion of your career—if not your whole career.

For these reasons and more, you should be equipped with a list of questions to ask a brokerage of interest so that you can start your career off successfully. However, your list of questions shouldn’t be the stock/boring ones like “What training do you have? What are my splits? How many agents do you employ” etc.

It’s not that these aren’t great questions, it’s just that these are the questions brokerages are used to receiving. You want to ask tough questions like you are interviewing so that you break through their polished stock-answers.

Here are some examples of good questions to ask:

1. Who will be my mentor and how many properties did they sell last year?

2. What does this brokerage do for my clients? (be specific!)

3. Where will my career be in 5 years if I commit to this brokerage?

4. When do I get to build passive income through this brokerage?

5. How will you help me differentiate myself in the marketplace?

6. What will be my gross that I can make at this brokerage verses what are my splits?

From here, ask more questions based on their answers. Dig deeper and try to get as much information as possible. You have more power than you think, and you want to start Real Estate off on the right foot.

Have any tips for what to ask when joining a brokerage or are you a new realtor with questions you’d like answered?

Send them over, I’d love to check them out!
